A great place to ski........

Bansko is the best ski resort in Eastern Europe. All the ski lifts are brand new and all very fast chairlifts or Gondolas. The skiing is both challenging for the experienced skier and great for the beginner and intermediate.

There are many mountain restaurants serving a variety of local cuisine. Bulgaria is host to the sunniest ski resorts in Europe and since they are further East than the Alps have colder conditions which generates better snow throughout the season.

They have invested heavily in snow cannons and with the freezing night time temperatures, snow is guaranteed throughout the season.

Some details about Bansko...

*   Resort height                      936m

*   Top of highest lift                2560

*   Total number of lifts             16

*   Total km of market piste      70km

*   Total km of x-country trails   9km

Skiers of all abilities are well catered for as Bansko have 70km of marked ski runs which are easily accessed by the modern gondola lift.

Apres-ski is centered around the local 'Mehanas', friendly taverna type restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment.  There are lots of great fun bars, restaurants and night clubs to enjoy.

There is also an ice rink in the winter as well as bowling and a cinema.

Bansko is a great place for first time skiers and snowboarders.  A good ski school and all the latest equipment from the rent-a-ski.  There are gentle baby-drags and plenty of blue runs.

Lots of blue and red runs suitable for the intermediate skier, and plenty of restaurants by the slopes to enjoy.

Advanced and off-piste...

While some red runs and the Alberto Tomba black run should keep most advanced skiers busy, Bansko is probably more popular with experts for its great offerings of extreme and off-piste skiing.

In addition...

to on piste skiing, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the fun park in the Platoto area

Bansko do night sking on a Saturday night, or it can be arranged at your convenience for another day with the ski school.

There is a unique 16km of uniterrupted skiing starting from Todorka Peak at the highest point of the resort, all the way down to the top of town.  The last 7km of the slope is floodlit, and the entire run is equipped with snow machines to ensure a great skiing experience even in warmer conditions.
