During the summer summer months in Bansko there is plenty to do!  There are golf courses, natural spring and health spas, mountain biking, rafting, quad biking, climbing and walking as well as horse riding and fishing

Or if you would like a day at the beach, the nearest one is on the Mediterranean Coast in Greece and is only 90 minutes away!


For the fans of outdoor adventures and adrenaline specialists Bansko offers several rafting packages, for a truly exciting and memorable summer vacation. The Rivers Struma and Mesta, bracketing Pirin National Park respectively on the left and the right,  are the two major rafting locations in the area.

The rafting trip on the Struma River kicks off over peaceful waters at first and heads towards the exhilarating rapids of the Kresna Canyon providing the thrills and adventure of white water rafting. The trip ends up in the memorable Valley around the sunniest town in Bulgaria - Sandanski.

The rafting trip on the calmer Mesta River stretches over quiet water and allows you ample time to practice paddling and navigation techniques and to take in the picturesque surroundings while heading deeper into the saddle between the Pirin and the Rhodopi mountains

Horse Riding

The horse riding trip is a perfect complement to your summer fun at Bansko. Being situated on the left shore of River Mesta in the upper part of the beautiful southwards opened valley, Bansko offers some great opportunities to explore an untouched piece of nature by horse.

The valley itself is nestled amist three of the prettiest Bulgarian Mountains – the Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopi. Your ride will lead you through a wide diversity of environments including lush green meadows, open pasture clearings, amazing rock formations and through beautiful century-old pine forests

Mountain Biking

Bansko offers hundreds of kilometers of superb mountain bike riding. Whether you are looking for relaxing forest or valley trails, to get you away from it all or the adrenalin rush of the technically and physically demanding alpine rides – you will find it all in Bansko

The place encompasses the Mesta Valley dividing three of the most picturesque mountains in Bulgaria – Pirin, Rila and the Rhodopi. This provides the scenery of Bansko summer resort with an amazing variety of biking terrains. There is the stunning Mesta Valley surrounded by towering peaks reaching up to 3 000 meters, the century-old pine forests, the sharp slopes with racing torrents and the high alpine places with their regally-rising peaks and deep-blue, ace aged lakes.

Small, hidden villages that managed to preserve old crafts and habits with high ethnographical value, shape a landscape unchanged for centuries. The stunning remains of medieval and prehistoric artifacts speak for a place that has been in the heart of the Hellenic Civilization, has seen the greatness of the Roman Empire, the Old Bulgarian Kingdom and the Ottoman Empire.

Pirin, 2914 m. is the most rugged of all mountain ranges on the Balkans, providing an amazing variety of mountaineering terrain. The craggy skylines have inspired generations of alpinists to challenge themselves.

The Pirin peaks, ridges, and valleys will provide even the most demanding tourists with an unforgettable mountaineering experience. The Rock Sites of peak Vihren (2914 m) , Sinanitsa (2516 m), Georgiytsa (2589 m), Glavnishki Choukar (2670 m) and around peak Okaden (2475 m) offer various courses of different difficulty for all mountaineers.

Adept instructors will introduce the beginners into the techniques of and enjoyable rock climbing and safe alpine behaviour.

More than 100 km of marked alpine routes situated in the Pirin National Park will please event the most demanding mountain fans.

The caves around Bansko with its beauty, underground rivers, stalactites and stalagmites are an opportunity not to miss.

Nordic walking

The area around Bansko is a fantastic place for a great fitness workout for those of you looking for a convenient and fun physical activity with maximum health benefits.

Golf (only 5 km from Bansko)

There is an 18 hole Ian Woosnam Design Golf Course, par 72 which was completed in 2007. is near to the towns of Razlog and Bansko. The spectacular course is in the area of Razlog's valley at the foot of the PirinMountains and it is a World Class golf course facility.


Over 2000-2500 foreign hunters a year go shooting in Bulgaria, a large part of them being traditional visitors in the country. Having a game shooting license in Bulgaria provides a possibility of gaining trophies of brown bear, chamois, ibex and capercaillie. Their prices confirm to the international requirements and are reasonable for hunters who value high trophy collections and hunting tourism. You can hunt wolves, jackals and foxes, pheasants, partidges, pigeons and wild duck.
